M’dez El Menzel hydroelectrical developments

ISL is participating in the implementation of the fifth tranche of the global rural electrification programme (PERG 5).

Projet : 

In the framework of its programme to provide means of production, Morocco’s  National Electricity Office plans to launch the M’dez El Menzel hydroelectrical complex project, located on the Haut Sebou.

The development consists of:

  • The M’dez dam and the M’dez hydroelectric plant equiped with a group of 45 MW
  • The Ain Timedrine dam and the El Menzel hydroelectric plant equiped with a group with an installed capacity of 125 MW
  • The M’dez development is comprised of the following principal constructions:
  • An underground headrace tunnel on the right bank of the M’dez wadi which is approximately 1800m long
  • A surge chamber composed of a vertical shaft and an expansion tank
  • A 220m long underground penstock
  • A plant composed of a shaft with a 45MW group which can turbine a flow of 48m3/s under a 107m drop height
  • A 225 kV electricty station with two departure lines
  • Access roads to the structures

 

The El Menzel development is comprised of the following principal constructions:

  • A 14 000 m long underground headrace tunnel
  • A shaft surge chamber
  • A 420m long penstock
  • A plant composed of a shaft with a 125 MW group which can turbine a flow of 67 m3/s under a 240m drop height
  • A 225 kV switchyard
  • Access roads
